Sunfish sailors, my Sunfish sailing blog (my2fish) recently hit a stats milestone, and like a few of the previous milestones, I'm doing a give-away.
This time it will be sponsored by Sunfish Direct (thank you @cmac233 ) and he's providing a set of Aerosouth mainsheet hangers and a Sunfish Direct...
it's been a weird summer for me - road construction ALL summer directly at the end of my driveway more or less kept me from trailering at all... I didn't want to pull my trailer through 8" to 10" of mud. so sadly, yesterday was my 1st sail of the year. quite windy and gusty, air temp was 55F...
From an email from the Sunfish Class (I bolded a few key lines):
Unfortunately, the 2023 Sunfish World Championship scheduled for September 6-17 in Salinas, Ecuador, has been cancelled. This includes the open, Masters, Youth, and first Women’s Worlds.

In recent news:

“I think the name is incorrect. It’s a sun leviathan, it’s a sun monster, it’s no fish.”
this morning I scrounged for some scrap materials and threw together this storage solution for two sets of daggerboards and rudders/tillers. I previously built the “box” bed and A-frame to carry two boats. this setup will now keep the daggerboards and rudder/tillers from sliding and bouncing...
I thought some of my fellow Sunfish sailors might be interested in this:

I recently purchased a Garmin Forerunner 55 GPS watch (I previously had an Apple 3 watch), and tested it out a weekend or two back while sailing my Sunfish. I did have my cellphone with me while sailing (in a little dry bag), but you technically would not need to have it with you as the Garmin...

here's one snip - the article goes into more detail on other types of repairs.
I posted this on my blog - I found a guy on Instagram that is attempting to make a wing foil of sorts that can be used with your Sunfish (seems like it had limited success).
sure seems to be a lot of tinkering going on lately (new Farrar sails, new Aerosouth rudders, new LP sails, etc)...
well, it sure looks exactly the same, other than maybe a few extra reinforcing panels.
Lee Montes gives a sneak preview of the New Sail In Development by Sunfish Manufacturer, Laser Performance.

here is some updated information on the new “modern" Sunfish sails that are being used by the Sunfish sailors on Sag Harbor. the sails are designed by a member of the Sag Harbor Sunfish sailing fleet, along with Kevin Farrar from Farrar Sails in New London, Connecticut. all photos and the...
Can't imagine this is going to help out any with the supply chain for getting Sunfish supplies from LP.

I was looking at one of my old blog posts and found this great picture - a screen grab from my GoPro video - of when the snap hook at the end of my mainsheet came loose from the traveler and went flying!
Lesson: always double check your knots and rigging before getting out on the water!
